With increasingly dangerous and sophisticated cybersecurity threats, combined with expansive privacy legislation, information governance has never been more important. This session will discuss the critical importance of integrating information governance into a framework that coordinates data privacy and information security principals to protect sensitive and operational data, comply with expansive data privacy and security laws, and respond to both internal stakeholders and consumers. The traditionally important principals of information governance such as accountability, transparency, integrity, protection, compliance, availability, retention and disposition, must be viewed through the lens of 2020 enhanced cyber risk and new data privacy legislation. This session will address standards of care for cyber risk management, enterprise risk mitigation strategies, and the urgent need for organizations to enhance their information governance programs to protect their business models.
